Billund Airport expands with new multi-house

Billund Airport will expand in 2018 with a new multi-house on the eastern side of the terminal, which will ensure plenty of space for many passengers in the future and for the work behind the scenes. We Danes like to travel, and Billund Airport see it by a large increase of passengers over the last couple of years. Billund Airport is looking forward and is already expanding with a new 6,500 m2 multi-house and a rebuilding of a part of the terminal to ensure that there will be plenty of space for all passengers in the future.

"In these years, we see a big increase in business and leisure travelers who choose Billund Airport for their international journeys. On the passenger side we are making all the records this year and if we are to be the customers' preferred choice in the future, we must ensure that we have the necessary facilities for the growth. As traffic engenders more traffic. Therefore, we are starting now, "says development manager Anders Nielsen.


The multihouse provides more space for everything

Billund Airport has already hit a record - three million passengers this year, and with the new multi-house, passenger capacity for arriving passengers will increase significantly.

In the multi-house there is an extra belt for luggage and an extension of the restaurant Gastro in the departure hall. The 900 employees get larger capacity for handling the many new passengers, as the production kitchen, offices for commercial operations, exercise and treatment rooms, and the staff canteen with roof terrace all move into the new house. In addition, the new building provides more storage space for stores and the facility department that provides service for the increasing number of passengers.

Once the project is completed, construction work will be offered to interested entrepreneurs. The construction of the new multi-house building begins in spring 2017 and is expected to be completed in October 2018.
