Progress in Billund in the first month of the year
In January Billund Airport registered an increase in the number of passengers of 4.7 %
Domestic traffic went down by 5.5 %. This is partly due to bad weather during part of the month, particularly in Copenhagen. Also the fact that a strike for a period hit SAS-traffic out of Copenhagen has had a negative impact on the domestic figures. Apart from this Cimber Air has been very satisfied with the service to Copenhagen which it took over on January 9.
International scheduled traffic went up by 10.0 % compared to January 2005.
The progress is fairly evenly distributed over the large number of international scheduled services from Billund.
Lufthansa partner Cirrus Airlines has successfully taken over the service between Billund and Frankfurt. The company operates with three daily flights on the route using its comfortable Embraer jets.
Charter went up by 1.2 % during the first month of the year.
The amount of handled cargo in January 2006 was 4,122 tons, which is a decline of 10.0 %. The fall-off is due to the fact that the figures for January 2005 include large amounts of emergency aid flown to the Far East after the tsunami.
